SHELBYVILLE, IN - On Saturday November 1st, the Pioneers traveled to Shelbyville, Indiana to race for the conference title in the HCAC Championships. The women had a great race, finishing second overall as a team for their highest finish in Transylvania Cross Country history. They had a total of four runners finish in the top 21, earning All-Conference honors. This included Gwyneth Cunnigham (20th), Ellie Thornsbury (19th), Kaycee Moore (9th), Ella Detjen (3rd). Senior Libby Perkins rounded out the scoring just outside of the All-Conference spots, in 22nd place. Freshman Ella Detjen was awarded HCAC Newcomer of the Year, courtesy of her 3rd place finish, leading all HCAC freshman.

On the men's side, the team raced solidly and finished 8th overall. This included some quality individual performances, including freshman Xander Harris who ran a PB while Senior Nate Rogers and freshman Jonah Whitehead recorded season bests.

"I'm extremely proud of our team's effort today," said Head Coach Matt Andrews. "We've talked all year about racing for each other and prioritizing our execution as a team and they certainly embodied that. At the end of the day that's all I can ask for as a coach."

The Pioneers have one final race in two weeks, the Great Lakes Regional Championship where they will travel to Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
