CINCINNATI, OHIO - Transylvania earned another Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) victory in the final road trip of the 2025 regular season on Wednesday, defeating Mount St. Joseph 3-1.Â
Isabella Myers opened the first set with back to back kills, followed by an ace from
Julia Brown. MSJ would respond, tying the score and exchanging points throughout the first set. The Pioneers would begin to build on their lead as Myers scored another kill to give Transylvania a 15-12 advantage, a lead followed by six consecutive points for the Pioneers. After a kill from MSJ's Hannah Graves, Transylvania scored four consecutive points, featuring a kill from
Addie Atcher and
Cecelia Roberts, to take the opening set 25-15.Â
The Pioneers would echo the first set in the second, as they rallied a 7-2 run after tying MSJ at 11-11.
Isabella Myers recorded four kills in the run that give the Pioneers a 16-12 lead. MSJ responded with a late four point run to pull them to within two points of the Pioneers at 20-18, but
Addie Atcher would score three kills in a run that saw the Pioneers take a 24-20 advantage.
Isabella Myers scored the final point, assisted by
Macy Lentz, to secure the second set victory, 25-21.Â
After MSJ claimed the third set, Transylvania opened the fourth set on a 6-2 run that featured four kills from Myers and a kill from
Lilly Kaiser. The teams would exchange short runs that echoed the first two sets down the wire.
Macy Lentz scored on a kill to give Transylvania a 22-16 lead, but MSJ would continue to respond, scoring five points to cut into the Pioneer lead.
Lilly Kaiser, assisted by Lentz, scored to give Transylvania the 24-21 lead, but Graves would score for MSJ to force another serve.
Addie Atcher would score the final kill, assisted from Lentz, to give the Pioneers a 25-22 set four win and a 3-1 victory.Â
Isabella Myers led the Pioneers with 18 kills, followed by
Addie Atcher with 14 and 10 from
Lilly Kaiser. Atcher also led the team in blocks with three.
Macy Lentz recorded 48 assists in the win, while
Julia Brown again led the Pioneers in digs with 17.
Transylvania returns to the Clive M. Beck Center on Saturday, November 8th, to close the 2025 regular season and celebrate the senior class of Alex O' Connor,
Audrey Gass,
Isabella Myers,
Kennedy Beatty and
Morgan Crawford. The Pioneers host Franklin at 2:00 p.m.
