LEXINGTON, KY - Transylvania Men's Basketball Team went head to head against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent, Anderson. The match Saturday afternoon in Anderson, IN was destined for a blockbuster, with teams being first and third in the conference standings. The Pioneers struggled scoring within the first half, but fought hard in the second half, despite losing 85-74.
Anderson came out of the gate hot, going on a 9-2 run with
Ian Reesor making the first two points from the free throw line.
Hunter Barr made a layup and drew the foul to complete the three point play and boost the Pioneer offense. At the 10:28 mark, Reesor's layup cut the lead down to five points. A pair of Anderson three pointers extended their lead to 18, with six minutes to play.
Sam Stone and
Brandon Rowe's four points in the closing minutes cut the lead, but the Pioneers were down double digits at half.Â
In the second half, Transylvania saw consecutive baskets from
Ian Reesor and
Hunter Barr to cut the lead to 8 points at the 14:08 mark. At the 7:32 mark, a fast break layup by
Zach Stahlman halted the Anderson run making the lead 69-61. Anderson went on a run to extend their lead back to 16.
Colby Wilburns three point field goal closed out the scoring for the Pioneers.

Hunter Barr led Transylvania in scoring with 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
Ian Reesor finished with 13 points and 3 rebounds.
Dakota Capps had 11 points and five rebounds.
Brandon Rowe led the Pioneers in rebounds with 7.Â

Transylvania is looking onward to their next match at Berea College. The in-state rivalry game will be on Wednesday, February 5th. The tip-off is set for 7:30 pm.
