LEXINGTON, KY - Transylvania rallied after an early deficit to take down Sewanee at Pat Deacon Stadium, 12-11, on Saturday.

After a quick 3-0 start for Sewanee, Josh Harney scored first for the Pioneers at the 10:32 mark of the first quarter. Minutes later, Andrew Welch and Jack Miller would score consecutive goals to tie the score at 3-3. Sewanee would briefly retake the lead, but Transylvania would score on the very next possession to remain tied at 4-4, courtesy of Welch's second goal. The Pioneers would enter the second quarter trailing by one, but would quickly rally to tie once again after a goal from Luke Larish in the opening minutes of the second quarter. Sewanee would utilize a 3-0 run over a four minute stretch to regain their advantage, but the Pioneers would continue to rally and find their offense. Following a Sewanee turnover, Harney would score for the Pioneers with 01:40 remaining in the second quarter. Transylvania would then score two goals in the final minute of the first half, from Welch and Ben Gaccino. Goalkeeper Nick DeGrandi would block a final attempt from Sewanee with three seconds remaining, leading to a 8-8 score at the break.

Transylvania would give up two goals in the opening minutes of the third quarter, but Welch would score another timely goal for the Pioneers to cut the lead back to one with just over ten minutes remaining in the quarter. Transylvania entered the fourth quarter trailing by two, before Harney scored yet again for the Pioneers, to cut the deficit to one early in the quarter. With just under eight minutes remaining, Samuel Archer found the back of the net to tie the score once again for Transylvania. With just under six minutes remaining following another Sewanee turnover courtesy of RJ Young, Harney would score his fourth goal of the afternoon to secure the victory for the Pioneers, 12-11.

"It was a gritty game and I am super proud of how they continued to chip away at the lead Sewanee built," said Head Coach Logan Otto. "Andrew Welch and Josh Harney continued their hot streak offensively in addition to a defense that locked in to hold them scoreless in the fourth quarter. Sewanee is a talented team that I expect to be a championship caliber team in a loaded SAA. This one means a lot towards our growth as a team."

The Pioneers return to action on Thursday, February 27th, as they travel to Greencastle, Indiana for a match up with DePauw at 7:00 p.m.
