WINTER HAVEN, FL - Transylvania split the weekend in Winter Haven, going 1-1 on both Friday and Saturday.
Game 1: Transylvania 5, Marian 0
Transylvania scored two runs in the first inning.
Katie Mewes scored after
Maddie Goddard doubled to right center field,
Avery Parsons singled to right center field sending Goddard in for the second run of the inning.Â
Goddard earned two additional RBI's in the third inning, sending a hit to left center field while
Dakota Burke and
Katie Mewes scored for the Pioneers.
Avery Parsons scored off of a wild pitch in the sixth inning to give Transylvania a 5-0 lead entering the seventh inning.Â
Natalie Contreras earned the win at the mound for Transylvania, giving up one hit and two walks. Contreras struck out five batters. Parsons and Goddard each had two hits in the win.Â
Game 2: Trine 3. Transylvania 0Â
Trine scored a run in the first inning, Transylvania was unable to get on base in the first. After both teams went scoreless in the second and third innings, Trine would score again in the fourth as Duell singled in an RBI allowing Beyer to score for Trine. Parsons was left on third base in the fifth for Transylvania but the Pioneers were unable to score in the inning. In the bottom of the sixth, Phillips would hit a home run for Trine, extending the Transylvania deficit to three.Â
In the seventh the Pioneers attempted to rally but were unable to score, leading to a 3-0 Trine victory.Â
Game 3: Mount Union 2, Transylvania 0
In a game where hits were hard to come by for both teams, Mount Union scored a run in the first and fourth innings to take a 2-0 victory over the Pioneers.Â
In the first inning, Jones stole home plate after Mercer was called out at second base for the first run of the game. Gayner scored from an RBI from George in the fourth inning for Mount Union.
Reagan Rouleau bunted to first base in the bottom of the third, but was caught out attempting to steal second base.
Mewes reached base in the seventh for the Pioneers after a Mount Union error, but Parsons would line out at second base for the final out of the game.Â
Gibson pitched for the Pioneers for the duration of the game, only giving up five hits and two runs. She struck out six batters.Â
Game 4: Transylvania 4, Husson 2
After going scoreless against Mount Union and Trine, the Pioneers started the first inning with two runs. Ella Steczynsk scored first for Transylvania off of an RBI from
Dakota Burke's hit to center field. Burke would then score for Transylvania after Parsons singled up the middle of the field. Transylvania left two runners on base after a strong start in the first inning as Parsons had stolen third base prior to a strike out from Shearer.Â
Transylvania would score another run at the top of the second as Mewes scored from an RBI from Steczynsk. Steczynsk would steal steal third base before Burke was fouled out at first.Â
Husson would score a run in the bottom of the second as Kaler scored, but the Pioneers would earn the third out on a foul ball at third base, leaving two runners on base for Husson. McLeod scored for Husson in the bottom of the fourth, but Transylvania's defense would stand strong, leaving a runner on base.Â
Parsons would score for the Pioneers again in the top of the sixth inning after an RBI from
Andrea Linton in the final run of the game for the Pioneers.Â
Contreras would earn the win at the mound for the Pioneers, pitching three innings. She struck out one batter while only giving up three hits, one run and one error.
