LEXINGTON, KY - The Transylvania Pioneers faced off against conference opponent Anderson on Sunday afternoon. Transylvania showed excellence and dominance on both the offensive and defensive sides of the field. After a 27-2 victory, Transylvania finished three goals shy of the Transylvania record of goals scored in a game.Â
Alex Madson kick started Transylvania's offense, by scoring just two minutes into the game. A goal by
Jack Miller and a
Malachi Spohn goal assisted by
Andrew Welch, put the Pioneers up 3 before the 11 minute mark. Ryan Gielser would find
Andrew Welch who would go on to score his first goal of the game with seven minutes remaining in the first quarter. After an Anderson goal,
Malachi Spohn would score his second goal of the game from a
Andrew Welch assist. Welch continuing to be a facilitator for the Pioneers, would find
Jack Miller who would score his second goal. The Pioneers closed out the first quarter 8-1, after
Andrew Welch and
RJ Young found the back of the net.
Ben Gaccino continued to the scoring efforts for the Pioneers in the second quarter, scoring 51 seconds after the opening whistle. Transylvania would proceed to go on a run with goals coming from
Samuel Archer,Â
Luke Stetter,
Andrew Welch and
Jack Miller. At the 3:33 mark,
Charlie Horner would score his first goal of the game with the assist going to
Andrew Welch. AÂ pair of goals from Archer and Miller would continue to the run for the Pioneers. A goal by
Jaxon Eldridge from
Luke Larish would close out the first half for the Pioneers. The Transylvania defense continued to stand tall and be a presence to keep Anderson scoreless in the second period.
At the 11:33 mark in the third quarter,
Luke Larish would score his first goal of the game. The quarter would end with a pair of goals coming from
Charlie Horner and
Cole Brickley. Two minutes into the final quarter, Horner would go on to score his second, making the score 22-1. A goal from
Luke Hinton and a pair of goals from
Jaxon Eldridge would continue to Pioneer scoring. After an Anderson goal,
Luke Hinton and
Charlie Horner would close out the offensive showcase for the Transylvania Pioneers.Â
The Pioneers are looking forward to their next match against conference opponent Hanover on April 2nd. The game will begin at 4:00 PM and will take place on the road in Hanover, IN.Â
