LEXINGTON, KY - Transylvania University improved to 15-2, sweeping Hanover in a double header in Lexington.Â
Game 1 - Transylvania 9, Hanover 1
Transylvania's offense was on full display in their game one victory over Hanover.
Avery Parsons scored first for the Pioneers in the first inning. In the second inning,
Emilie Young scored after a single line drive from
Reagan Rouleau. In the third,
Emily Shearer stole home to give the Pioneers a 3-0 lead. After giving up a run in the fourth, the Pioneers would score again in the fifth as
Ella Steczynski took home after a triple from
Emilie Young. Transylvania would erupt in the sixth inning, scoring five additional runs to secure the victory.Â
Reagan Gibson would claim the pitching victory, pitching four innings and only giving up one hit and one run, striking out three batters.Â
Game 2 - Transylvania 8, Hanover 0Â
Dakota Burke stole home to give the Pioneers an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. RyAnn Tharp would steal home in the second to build on the lead. Burke scored again in the third, stealing home. Shearer scored in the fourth to extend the lead to 4-0.
Makena Francis singled to first, sending Parsons and Steczynski home for a 6-0 lead in the fifth. Ingram scored on a play at the plate, stealing home for a 7-0 Transylvania lead in the sixth. Mewes scored to take an 8-0 victory for the Pioneers.Â
Trinity Bridges earned the win at the mound, pitching six innings giving up no hits or runs, striking out five batters.Â
