SPRINGFIELD, OHIO - Transylvania defeated Baldwin Wallace on Friday evening in Springfield, the first of three match ups for the Pioneers this weekend, 3-1.Â
The Pioneers had their offense on full display in the opening set, at one point holding a 22-5 advantage with multiple runs of five points or more. Clara Rogers, assisted by Macy Lentz, closed the first set with a kill to give the Pioneers a 25-10 set win. After Baldwin Wallace took set two, Transylvania took another strong set victory in set three behind another strong offensive stand. Set three saw the Pioneers reach runs of 6-0 and 7-0, all leading to a final sequence of a kill from Rogers, a kill from Lentz and an ace from Soleil Sabin to secure set three, 25-12.Â
Transylvania claimed the victory in set four, but they would show strong resiliency in doing so. After trailing 18-11, the Pioneers sparked a 9-3 run to cut the deficit to one. Kills from Addie Atcher and Myers helped the Pioneers complete the set four comeback, and claim the victory, 3-1.Â
Myers led the Pioneers with 15 kills, followed by Atcher's 11. Lentz once again led Transylvania in the assists category, recording 33 in the victory. Alex O' Connor had a strong performance, adding 22 digs to lead the Pioneers.Â
Transylvania returns to action tomorrow in Springfield, taking on Juniata College at 11:00 a.m. and Ohio Wesleyan at 4:00 p.m.Â
