LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, GA - Transylvania defeated LeTourneau 3-0 at the Coca-Cola Invitational to earn their fifth consecutive victory.Â
Trailing 15-9 in the opening set, Transylvania scored seven consecutive points to take the lead, 16-15. Another 7-0 run later in the set would all but secure the win, as the Pioneers increased their lead to 24-17. A kill from
Addie Atcher would secure the opening set victory, 25-19. In the second set, Transylvania ralled from another early deficit to take a 9-7 advantage behind a kill from
Cecelia Roberts, two kills from
Isabella Myers and another from
Macy Lentz. Atcher would score the final kill and secure the set two victory, 25-20. In the third set, Transylvania took an early 12-6 advantage. A kill from
Clara Rogers would cap a 4-0 run that gave the Pioneers a 19-11 lead. Despite a late 3-0 run from LeTourneau, Transylvania would hold on for a 25-18 set three victory, and a 3-0 win.Â
Addie Atcher led Transylvania with 13 kills, followed by eight from Myers and eight from Roberts.
Macy Lentz led the Pioneers with 28 assists, while
Kennedy Beatty and
Julia Brown each added four.
Isabella Myers and
Julia Brown both led the Pioneers with 20 digs, while Lentz added 16.Â
Transylvania was named champions of the Coca-Cola Invitational.
Isabella Myers was named MVP of the event, while
Macy Lentz and
Julia Brown were named to the All-Tournament Team.Â
Transylvania returns to action on Wednesday, September 10th, as they travel to Danville for a match up with Centre College at 7:00 p.m.
