LEXINGTON, KY - Transylvania Women's Basketball won their home game 70-61 against fellow Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent Hanover College at the Clive M. Beck Center.

Transylvania had three players score in double figures with
Sierra Kemelgor leading the Pioneers with 19 points.
Riley Flinn was the leading rebounder for the Pioneers with seven rebounds, while dishing out six assists to go along with her 17 points. Â

The game remained tight during the first quarter with the visiting Hanover Panthers leading the Pioneers 11-10 with five minutes left in the quarter. However, the Pioneers took the lead going into the first timeout of the game with a 16-13 edge at the 3:59 mark. The Pioneers expanded their lead and held a 24-13 edge over the Panthers at the end of the first quarter.Â
Hannah Glisson was the leading scorer for the Pioneers in the first quarter with nine points.

The Pioneers carried over the same focus from the first quarter with a 32-15 edge at the 7:43 mark in the second quarter. The Pioneers were still leading with a 34-21 edge with 4:09 minutes left in the first half, despite the Panthers making a run. Transylvania held a 44-31 edge at halftime.
Sierra Kemelgor was the leading scorer for the Pioneers in the first half with 11 points.
Riley Flinn had five assists in the first half. The Pioneers were shooting 45.5 percent from the floor and 33.3 percent beyond the arc in the first half.

While the Pioneers were still leading, the Panthers cut down the lead to single digits at the 5:00 mark in the third quarter. However, Transylvania responded and expanded their lead back to double digits. At the end of three quarters, the Pioneers were leading 59-44.

The Pioneers expanded their lead to 22 points with 7:00 minutes left in the game. Transylvania was still leading comfortably with a 68-46 edge with less than 5:00 minutes left. The Pioneers won 70-61 and now 10-3 on the season. The Pioneers shot 38.7 percent from the floor and 29.6 percent from beyond the arc.

Transylvania returns to action on Saturday, January 10
th, 2026 when they face off against Rose-Hulman. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
