Softball Opens Season With Two Victories In Louisville

Game One: Transylvania 8, Wooster 0

LOUISVILLE, KY — Transylvania opened the 2026 season with an 8–0 run-rule win over Wooster in five innings on Friday at Legacy Fields.

The Pioneers scored twice in the first inning on hits from Malana Hamm and Emilie Young, then added another run in the second on a sacrifice fly from Ella Steczynski. Transylvania pulled away with a four-run fourth inning highlighted by RBI hits from Taylor Ingram, Steczynski, and Hamm. Avery Parsons and Hamm each finished with two hits, while Raegan Gibson doubled home the final run in the fifth.

Three Pioneer pitchers combined for the shutout. Trinity Bridges earned the win with 3.2 innings of one-hit softball, striking out five. Natalie Contreras and Olivia Colebank recorded the final four outs to seal the run-rule victory.

Transylvania collected five stolen bases, with Parsons, Young, Brie Pelland, and Ingram each swiping one.

Game Two: Transylvania 3, Coe 1

Transylvania moved to 2–0 on opening day with a 3–1 win over Coe on Friday at Legacy Fields, backed by a complete-game effort from Raegan Gibson.

The Pioneers struck in the second inning when Emilie Young singled, and Gibson followed with an RBI double to right-center. A second run scored moments later on an outfield error to make it 2–0. Transylvania added insurance in the seventh when Ella Steczynski delivered a two-out RBI single to score Kailey Goetz.

Gibson was in control throughout, allowing only two hits and no earned runs while striking out six and walking four in the complete-game victory.

Young finished with two hits to lead the offense. Steczynski, Gibson, Avery Parsons, Taylor Ingram, Malana Hamm, Brie Pelland, Anna Russelburg, Makena Francis, and Gracie Gilbert all appeared offensively for the Pioneers.

The win pushes Transylvania to 2–0 on the season.
