GAMBIER, OH — Transylvania opened its 2026 men's lacrosse season on Sunday with a 14–4 road loss to Kenyon College at the Kenyon Athletic Center Field.
The Pioneers produced four goals on the afternoon, led by Jack Miller's two-goal, one-assist performance. Samuel Archer scored once on a man-up opportunity in the first quarter, while Huck Campbell added a third-quarter finish. Miller closed the scoring with his second goal in the final minute of regulation.
Kenyon controlled early possession and jumped out to a 4–2 lead after the opening quarter. The Owls extended their advantage with a 5–0 third quarter, using a series of transition goals to create separation. Despite multiple defensive stands and strong goalkeeping, Transylvania was unable to close the gap in the second half.
Goalkeepers Nick DeGrandi and Caleb Kern combined for 15 saves, with the Pioneers facing 51 total shots and 29 shots on goal from the Owls. Transylvania generated 30 total shots and 20 shots on goal while collecting 28 ground balls. Campbell, Neff, McKiernan, and Young all recorded key defensive plays, with Kern adding multiple caused turnovers. Transylvania finished 19–23 on clears and went 1–3 on extra-man opportunities, converting on Archer's first-quarter tally.
The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, February 14, traveling to face Wabash College. Opening faceoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
