LEXINGTON, KY — Transylvania closed the indoor track and field regular season on a high note as the Pioneers delivered standout performances across the board at the 2026 HCAC Indoor Championships. The men's team finished seventh overall—its highest placement in four years—while the women mounted a late surge to overtake Mount St. Joseph after the 4x400m relay, securing a strong third-place finish.

The meet featured numerous individual highlights for the Pioneers:

• Ella Detjen opened the day with a dominant victory in the 5000m, using a decisive move with 800m remaining to win the conference title in a meet-record time of 18:04.88. She later added an all-conference performance in the 3000m, scoring six more points for Transylvania.
• Olivia Sparks placed second in a tightly contested 400m before reclaiming her HCAC title in the 200m, running a new conference record of 25.34.
• Xander Harris battled through a competitive 800m field, edging out multiple Rose-Hulman runners at the line to secure fourth place by just hundredths of a second.
• Hannah Cox delivered across multiple events, earning two all-conference honors and scoring nine points. She anchored both the third-place 4x200m and 4x400m relays while also finishing fifth in the 400m and seventh in the 200m.
• Hayden Scott matched his personal best and school-record mark in the shot put to place fifth overall.
• Kaycee Moore opened her day with a personal-best 5:21.03 in the mile to finish fifth, then rallied for a fourth-place finish in the 800m after passing two competitors in the final 100 meters. She closed the meet with a strong 4x400m relay split that helped secure third place.
• Trevor Bush placed fifth in the 400m, scoring four key points for the men. He also anchored both the 4x200m and 4x400m relays, adding four more relay points to the men's team total.

Following the meet, Head Coach Matt Andrews praised the group's performance, stating, "Extremely proud of how our group fought today. It's always nice for our effort to be displayed in the results, but more than anything I'm very pleased with how our team came together to battle as a collective. We saw tons of great performances across the board that added up to some great team finishes today."

While the meet marked the end of the indoor season for most of the roster, several individuals will continue competing next weekend at the Polar Bear Qualifier in Ada, Ohio.
