Pioneers Clinch Road Series Win Against #6 Wash U

Game One: 
ST. LOUIS, MO — Transylvania defeated Washington (Mo.) 10–6 on Saturday morning at Irv Utz Stadium.

Washington jumped out to a 4–0 lead through the first four innings before the Pioneers began to chip away in the sixth. Baxter Tedesco drove in a run on a groundout, and Trevor Watkins added a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit in half.

Transylvania broke the game open in the seventh inning with five runs. Calvin Schubert delivered an RBI single, and Ethan Dillon followed with a two-run single to tie the game. Tedesco later added an RBI single, and Watkins drove in another run as the Pioneers took control.

The Pioneers added three insurance runs in the eighth inning, highlighted by a two-run single from Schubert and an RBI double by Watkins.

Schubert and Dillon each recorded three hits to lead the offense, while Watkins drove in three runs. Nick Pietromonaco also finished with three hits and scored twice.

Giancarlo Gonzalez earned the win on the mound, allowing five runs over six innings with three strikeouts. Luke Patton closed the game with 2.1 scoreless innings of relief.

Game Two:
ST. LOUIS, MO — Transylvania defeated Washington (Mo.) 6–4 on Saturday afternoon at Irv Utz Stadium.

Washington opened the scoring with single runs in the second and third innings before the Pioneers responded with a three-run fourth inning. Trevor Watkins delivered a two-RBI single and Max Finn followed with an RBI single to give Transylvania a 3–2 lead.

The Pioneers added another run in the fifth when Ethan Dillon drove in Kaden Ford with an RBI single. Transylvania extended the lead in the sixth as Ford singled and later scored before Nick Pietromonaco added an RBI groundout to push the advantage to 6–2.

Washington scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings, but Transylvania held on for the victory.

Dillon led the Pioneer offense with three hits and an RBI, while Watkins recorded two hits and two RBI. Finn and Ford each added two hits, and Pietromonaco drove in a run.

Nathan Hale earned the win on the mound, allowing two runs over five innings. Jayson Ingles secured the save with two scoreless innings of relief.
