Pioneers Open HCAC Play With Two Wins Over Bluffton

Game One:
LEXINGTON, KY — Transylvania earned a 12–3 win over Bluffton on Saturday evening at Legends Field.

The Pioneers broke the game open in the second inning, scoring eight runs on four hits to take control early. Brenton Alcorn delivered a two-RBI single in the inning, while Ethan Dillon added a two-RBI single to highlight the outburst.

Transylvania added two more runs in the sixth inning. Seita Shiratori drove in a run on a sacrifice fly, and Trevor Watkins followed with an RBI walk to extend the lead to 10–1.

Bluffton scored twice in the seventh inning, but the Pioneers answered with runs in the seventh and eighth to seal the victory.

Alcorn led the offense with three hits and two RBI, while Dillon recorded two hits, three runs scored, and two RBI. Watkins added two hits and an RBI, and Shiratori finished with two RBI.

On the mound, Drew Bowles earned the win, tossing seven innings with 11 strikeouts while allowing just three runs. Henry Craig closed the game with two scoreless innings, striking out four.

Transylvania improves to 8–6 on the season.

Game Two:
LEXINGTON, KY — Transylvania earned a 10–6 win over Bluffton on Saturday afternoon at Legends Field.

The Pioneers opened the scoring in the second inning when Trevor Watkins came home on an error to give Transylvania a 1–0 lead. Bluffton responded with a four-run fourth inning, highlighted by a grand slam to take a 4–1 advantage.

Transylvania answered in the bottom of the fourth, scoring three runs to tie the game. Brenton Alcorn delivered an RBI single, then scored on a steal of second, and Seita Shiratori added an RBI single to even the score at 4–4.

The Pioneers took control in the sixth inning with five runs. Alcorn drove in two with a double, Calvin Schubert and Ethan Dillon each drew RBI walks, and Chris Hedinger added a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 9–4.

Bluffton added two runs in the eighth inning, but Transylvania responded with an insurance run as Dillon scored on a wild pitch in the bottom half of the inning.

Shiratori led the offense with three hits and an RBI, while Alcorn recorded two hits and three RBI. Kaden Ford added two hits and scored twice.

On the mound, Giancarlo Gonzalez earned the win, allowing six runs over eight innings. Luke Patton closed the game with a scoreless ninth inning.

Transylvania improves to 9–6 on the season.
