NORTH MANCHESTER, IN — Transylvania outlasted Manchester 15–9 in 11 innings on Sunday afternoon at Gratz Field.
The Pioneers opened the scoring in the first inning on a sacrifice fly from Calvin Schubert, but Manchester responded early to take a 7–2 lead through five innings.
Transylvania rallied with a six-run sixth inning, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Kaden Ford, a two-RBI single from Nick Pietromonaco, and a two-RBI single from Trevor Watkins to take an 8–7 lead.
After Manchester regained the lead in the eighth, Ethan Dillon tied the game with a solo home run in the ninth to force extra innings.
The Pioneers broke the game open in the 11th inning with six runs. Brenton Alcorn delivered an RBI single before Pietromonaco added a two-RBI single. Schubert followed with a sacrifice fly, and Dillon drove in a run as Transylvania pulled away.
Pietromonaco led the offense with four hits and four RBI, while Dillon recorded three hits and two RBI. Ford added three hits and two RBI, and Watkins finished with two hits and two RBI.
Luke Patton earned the win on the mound, tossing three scoreless innings in relief.
