LEXINGTON, KY- Transylvania defeated Hanover in dominant fashion 19-4, at Pat Deacon Stadium.
The Pioneers were led by Layla Hobbs-Powell and Kaelin Truman whom both scored five goals respectively in the win. Transylvania finished with 51 shots, including 37 on goal, while making three saves and committing 13 turnovers. The Pioneers also recorded 11 clears and 40 ground balls.Â
Layla Hobbs-Powell scored the first two goals in the first two minutes of the game. However, Hanover got on the board but Kaelin Truman scored her first goal to increase the Pioneers lead 3-1. Sofie Garrett scored her 31st goal of the season to give the Pioneers a two goal lead. Hobbs-Powell scored her third goal of the afternoon to give the Pioneers 5-2 lead with less than five minutes remaining in the opening quarter. Moments later, the Pioneers scored two quick goals by Presley Helton and Kaelin Truman respectively. Avery Kirkhope scored a late goal to give the Pioneers a 8-2 lead after the first.Â
Truman scored her third goal within seconds into the second quarter. Seconds later, Hobbs-Powell continued her dominant first-half by scoring her fourth goal. Kirkhope scored again to give the Pioneers the 11-2 lead with eight minutes remaining until halftime. Hobbs-Powell did it again as she scored her fifth goal on the afternoon. Truman continuing her dominant first-half by scoring two more goals in the second quarter. Garrett scored her second goal to give the Pioneers the 15-2 lead at halftime.Â
Kirkhope scored her third goal on the afternoon few minutes into the third quarter. Grace Bruner scored her first goal to continue the Pioneers spectacular afternoon. The Pioneers were leading 17-2 over the Panthers after third quarters. Garrett continued the scoring for the Pioneers in the fourth period. Hanover scored their first goal since the early first quarter. The Pioneers were leading the Panthers 18-4 with five minutes remaining in the game. Kirkhope rounded up the scoring for the Pioneers with a late goal.Â
The win improves Transylvania to 7-7 on the season. The Pioneers return home on Saturday, April 18, to face Franklin  College. Face-off is set for 1:00 p.m.Â
