LEXINGTON, KY - Transylvania defeated Franklin in dominant fashion, 24–5, at Pat Deacon Stadium.
The Pioneers were led by Kaelin Truman, who scored five goals in the win. Transylvania finished with 35 shots, including 23 on goal, while making four saves and committing six turnovers. The Pioneers also recorded eight clears and 11 ground balls.
Transylvania got on the board quickly with goals from Avery Kirkhope and Layla Hobbs-Powell. Two more goals shortly after, by Presley Helton and Hobbs-Powell, continued the Pioneers' hot start. Franklin got on the board after giving up four goals. Kirkhope scored her second goal of the afternoon to make it 5–1. Grace Bruner added two goals to increase the lead to six. Hobbs-Powell added her third goal to make it 8–1 at the end of the first quarter.
Sofie Garrett opened the scoring in the second quarter for Transylvania with a quick goal, and Truman followed shortly after. Lily Craft scored her first goal of the afternoon to make it 11–1. Bruner added her third goal to push the lead to 12. Truman then scored two more goals, giving the Pioneers a 14–1 lead over the visiting Grizzlies. Garrett extended the lead to 15–1 with five minutes remaining in the half. The Pioneers continued to roll, scoring three more goals to make it 18–1 at halftime.
Transylvania opened the second half with a goal by Helton. Garrett scored her third goal of the afternoon to make it 20–1. Franklin scored two goals to cut the deficit, making it 21–3 at the end of the third quarter.
Franklin broke into the scoring in the fourth quarter with their fourth goal of the game. Chandler Worth scored her first goal to make it 22–4. Transylvania added two more goals to close out the game, securing the 24–5 victory.
This marked the final home game of the season, with postseason news expected soon. The Pioneers will conclude their regular season on Saturday, April 25th, traveling to Spalding.Â
