HCLC Names Charlie Horner Athlete of the Week

CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference (HCLC) men's lacrosse teams competed in week ten of the 2026 season.
 
Athletes of the Week:
Offensive Player of the Week
Charlie Horner (Louisville, Ky.) Transylvania University | Attack | Sophomore - Charlie Horner led the Transylvania offense with a dominant two-game stretch, totaling 13 points. In a 25–6 win over Hanover, Horner recorded eight points on five goals and three assists, adding 11 shots with eight on goal. He followed with five more points in a 20–2 win over Earlham, scoring four goals with one assist while posting seven shots, including five on goal. His performance in these two conference games helped secure the #1 seed in the HCLC Championship Tournament for the Pioneers.

Notable Performances:
  • Matthew Bridges (Lake View, NY) Alfred State University | Attack | First Year - Matthew Bridges helped lead the Pioneers to a 21-6 victory over Hilbert. Bridges tallied five goals, three assists, seven groundballs, and five caused turnovers.
  • Michael Lang (Palm Harbor, Fla.) Hanover College | Goalkeeper | Sophomore - Despite the setback at Transylvania, Lang was fantastic in frame. The sophomore made just his second career start collecting 15 saves through 45 minutes of work. 
  • Nicolas Guzman (Long Beach, Calif.) Spalding University | Attack | Senior - Nicolas tallied nine goals and two assists in the win over Heidelberg on Wednesday. He also tallied 11 shots on goal.
  • Nick DeGrandi (Louisville, Ky.) Transylvania University | Goalkeeper  | Sophomore - Nick DeGrandi earned the win in both games for Transylvania over the weekend. In a 25–6 victory over Hanover, DeGrandi recorded five saves while allowing just three goals in 30 minutes of action. He followed with another strong performance in a win over Earlham, tallying five saves and allowing just one goal in 30 minutes in the cage.
