RICHMOND, KY – The Transylvania men's golf team captured the 2026 HCAC Championship on Sunday at Boone's Trace National Golf Club – The Bull, securing the conference title after leading wire-to-wire across all three rounds.

The Pioneers relied on a balanced and consistent lineup all weekend, placing four golfers inside the top five to clinch the championship.

Freshman Andy Steed (Wilmington, OH) capped off a remarkable tournament with a runner-up finish at 213 (-4). After holding the lead through the first two rounds, Steed closed with a 71 (-1) on Sunday to earn All-HCAC honors and lead the Pioneers' charge.

William Carr also delivered a standout performance, finishing third overall at 216 (E). Carr posted a final-round 71 (-1), using a steady round to remain near the top of the leaderboard from start to finish.

Ty Ruttinger made a strong move on the final day, carding a 71 (-1) to climb into a tie for fifth at 223 (+7). His final-round surge helped solidify Transylvania's position atop the team standings.

Tom Buchert joined Ruttinger in a tie for fifth at 223 (+7), while Connor Calhoun rounded out the scoring effort with a final-round 77.

In addition to the team championship, head coach Brian Lane was named HCAC Coach of the Year, while Andy Steed, William Carr, Tom Buchert, and Ty Ruttinger each earned All-HCAC honors for their performances throughout the season.

With the victory, Transylvania claims the HCAC Championship and secures its place atop the conference heading into postseason play.
