LEXINGTON, KY - Transylvania Baseball has announced the return of Devon Sanders as Pitching Coach.
Sanders returns to Lexington after previously serving as an Assistant Baseball Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for the Pioneers from 2023-25. During his first stint at Transylvania, Sanders served as the program's pitching coach while also overseeing recruiting and assisting with all operational phases of the program.
During Sanders' time with the Pioneers, Transylvania made a 10-win improvement and finished second in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference before advancing to the HCAC Tournament championship. The Pioneers also hosted NCAA Tournament competition and advanced to an NCAA Regional Final.
Under Sanders' direction, the Transylvania pitching staff lowered its team ERA from 5.40 to 4.72 while holding opposing hitters to a .271 batting average and recording 420 strikeouts. Sanders utilized TrackMan data for player development, game preparation and scouting while creating individual development plans for members of the pitching staff.
Sanders also played a role in recruiting and developing a group of decorated student-athletes during his time at Transylvania, including a National Player of the Year runner-up, a 10th-round MLB Draft selection, three All-Americans, an All-Region selection, three First Team All-Conference selections, a Second Team All-Conference selection and an HCAC Freshman of the Year.
Following his time at Transylvania, Sanders joined the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where he served as Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Sport Administration.
Prior to joining Transylvania, Sanders served as an Assistant Baseball Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Penn College and Juniata College. At Penn College, Sanders helped the Wildcats reach the United East Playoffs and was part of a staff named United East Coaching Staff of the Year. At Juniata, he helped the program reach the Landmark Conference Tournament for the first time since 2006.
Sanders played collegiately at Pennsylvania College of Technology from 2015-19, where he pitched as both a reliever and conference starter and finished his career as the program's all-time leader in appearances.
Sanders earned his Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Juniata College in 2021 and his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Sport and Event Management from Pennsylvania College of Technology in 2019.
