GREENSBORO, NC- The Women's Swimming and Diving season has officially wrapped up after
Mackie Redford's showing in the NCAA Championships. Redford is the first Pioneer in Transylvania history to qualify and participate in the NCAA Diving Championships following a dominating senior season.
First, Redford would participate in the women's 1 meter dive where she would finalize in the preliminary category. Redford would finish the 1 meter dive coming in 25th and totaling a score of 367.75 points.
In the 3 meter dive Redford would finalize in the preliminary category, placing 23rd and scoring 372.4 points. This would be her strongest performance at the NCAA Championships and set the new standard for Women's Diving in Transylvania history in the Championships.
Redford concluded a season where she dominated regular season and conference meets, named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Champion in both the 1 meter and 3 meter dive. In conference she scored a 450.45 in the 3 meter, which broke a school record. In the 1 meter she would dive and score a 431.35. Earlier in the year Redford would break the school record in the 1 meter dive, where she scored a 289.05. Mackie Redford would place first in the 1 meter dive in each meet this season, including conference, while placing 1st in all but one 3 meter diving event.
Head coach Dave Doolin shared his thoughts after Redford's performance: "I am very proud of how Mackie did at NCAA's. She has been a joy to have on our team. She had 4 great years and I'm glad she got to represent Transylvania University at Nationals for her last meet."
