The Transylvania University men's golf team delivered a standout performance at the 2025 Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational, finishing 11th with a three-round total of 881 (+17). This marks the program's best finish at the prestigious event since 2014, solidifying the Pioneers' standing among the top NCAA Division III teams. The Pioneers outperformed six teams ranked in the top 25, showcasing their strength and determination.

Junior William Carr led the charge, tying for 15th place individually with rounds of 71, 76, and a final-round 69 for an even-par total of 216. His closing 69 was one of the best scores of the day and included back-to-back eagles—which played a pivotal role in Transylvania's strong finish.

Junior Tom Buchert remained steady throughout the tournament, tying for 33rd at 219 (+3), while senior Tyler Allred shot 223 (+7) to tie for 56th. Allred also tied for fifth in the field for the most pars, demonstrating his consistency across the course. Ty Ruttinger (T78, 226) and JD Collins (T89, 227) rounded out the team's scoring. Collins, who favored the back nine this week, played the holes at just +1, showing his ability to navigate the more challenging stretch of the course. Meanwhile, Ruttinger thrived on the par-5s, finishing the weekend at an impressive -4.

Head coach Brian Lane credited the team's great play to a productive spring break trip down south, where they tackled several difficult courses in preparation for the tournament. The Pioneers will look to keep their momentum rolling as they head to Memphis, Tennessee, for their next competition, eager to build on their impressive performance.
