CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) announced the 2025 Men's Golf All-Conference and major award winners on Tuesday.
Transylvania University's
Tom Buchert (Cincinnati, Ohio) was selected as the 2025 HCAC Men's Golf Athlete of the Year. Tom finished the season as the #1 ranked golfer in the HCAC, per Clippd rankings, with 2 tournament individual wins this season. His average score of 73.8 and adjusted score of 73.3 helped lead him to a 9-19-2 record against top 25 players in the nation this year. Buchert is ranked #16 in the region and #131 overall in Clippd player rankings across the entire division.
The league also recognizes an HCAC Newcomer of the Year, a standout student athlete in their first year of athletic eligibility. Also from Transylvania University,
Ty Ruttinger (Louisville, Ky.) was selected as the 2025 HCAC Men's Golf Newcomer of the Year. The first year finished the season as the 7th ranked player in the HCAC, with his average score of 76.9 and adjusted score of 76.3. Ruttinger finds himself sitting at #93 in the region, per Clippd rankings, following his first year of competition.

The HCAC also honors an All-Conference Team, which the members of those teams are selected by a vote of league coaches.
