DANVILLE, Ky. - Senior first baseman
Ken Riley homered for the second day in a row Wednesday and Transylvania went on to a 4-2 win over Centre in college baseball action.
The Pioneers improved to 8-9 on the season while the Colonels are 11-14.
Centre went ahead 1-0 in the third before the Pioneers rallied behind Riley in the sixth.
Nick Edwards walked with one out and
Zach Muench doubled. Riley then slammed his second homer of the year, and second in two days, to give Transy a 3-1 edge.
Each team added a run in the eighth.
Zach Bynum doubled and was sacrificed to third before Muench doubled for the final Transy run.
Ryan James started for Transy and went four innings. He was followed by five Transy hurlers.
Danny Niehaus got the save with a perfect ninth, which included two strikeouts. It was his third save of the year and second in as many days.
The Pioneers are back in action this weekend, taking on Heartland Conference rival Defiance in a three-game series, beginning with a Saturday doubleheader at noon.
