Alyssa Oakley and
Cassie Hamilton each had RBI Sunday, but Huntingdon took an 11-2 softball decision over Transylvania in the Emory Invitational.
Later Sunday, Emory won its second game in as many days over the Pioneers, taking a 10-0 victory. Transy is 1-5-1 on the young season while Emory is 14-1. Huntingdon is 5-2.
In the first game, Transy had five hits, including a double by
Chelsea Meiners.
Emily McCarty scored a pair of runs.
Emily Hampton started for the Pioneers and pitched into the fifth inning to take the loss.
Kaitlyn Foree finished up. They combined for one strikeout and three walks.
Transy trailed just 4-1 heading into the fourth inning, when Huntingdon broke through with a score. But Huntingdon added three runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth.
In the second game, Transy had six hits, including two by Hampton. Foree started and took the loss, going 2 and two-thirds innings.
The Pioneers will be back in action when the play in their annual Spring Break trip to Florida. Transy will compete in the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla. They open on Sunday against Marietta and Rowan and will play 10 games over the course of the week.
