LEXINGTON, Ky. - Capping a wild back-and-forth match, Berry tossed in the game-tying goal with just 23 seconds to play Saturday, giving the Vikings a tight 14-13 win over Transylvania in women's lacrosse action at Thomas Field.

Playing in the first home contest in the history of the program, Transy (3-2) took a 4-2 advantage 10 minutes into the contest with
Aubrey Bausum scoring three times and
Sky Spraker once.
Spraker's second goal of the game restored the Transy advantage to 6-4 at the 8:48 mark. Berry (3-4) would get the game's next four goals to take a two-goal advantage, 8-6, between the 6:47 mark and the 2:14 mark.
But the game would end up tied at halftime when
Rachel Harrison scored back-to-back goals in the final 1:51, the last coming with just three second on the clock, making it 8-8 at the break.
The dramatics continued in the second half,with Transy scoring first when Bausum connected at the 23:42 mark, but Berry answered with four straight scores, two by Kristan Dziurzynski, who would finish the game with six. That made it 12-9 in favor of the visitors with 14:39 to play.
The Pioneers would rally, getting Bausum's sixth goal of the game and two by Spraker to tie the contest at 12-12 with just under three minutes to go. Spraker finished the game with four goals.
Berry's Kim Slade put her team up with a score at the 1:39 mark, but Transy's
Jessica Bier answered off a
Kayla Thurlow assist and the score was tied again with just 1:03 to go. Zziurzynski got the game winner with just 23 seconds to play.
Transy keeper
Lydia Shaughnessy had 11 saves while Berry's Taylor Martin was credited with five. Berry had a total 41 shots to 22 for the Pioneers.
Transy is back in action on March 27, when it travels to Centre for a 6 p.m. match. Sunday's game with Pikeville was canceled.
