Box Score WILMINGTON, Ohio - Transylvania's women's lacrosse team grabbed a 16-2 win over Wilmington Saturday in its very first outing as an intercollegiate program.

Coach Haley Marvine saw her team post a lopsided win in the Pioneers'  very first outing. Wilmington, which opened its season against Alma on Wednesday, is 0-2.

Transy freshman attacker Aubrey Bausum made her college debut a spectacular one, scoring 10 goals for the Pioneers. Transy led 8-1 at the half and outscored the Quakers 8-1 in the second half.

Sky Spraker added three scores while Lucy Meredith had two and Rachel Harrison added the other.

Bausum also assisted on three goals while Katie Jackel added two. Lydia Shaughnessy started in goal and was credited with five saves. Transy had 46 shots to just 14 for Wilmington.

"Aubrey had a great day and led our attack well," said Marvine. "She will only get better as the season goes on. Shaughnessy was a force in the cage and played with the composure of a veteran."

Bausum had the first two goals in the history of the Transy program, scoring at the 24:46 mark. Her second goal came just three minutes later. Bier made it 3-0 when she coverted a Bausum assist at the 14:21 mark. Bausum had six of her goals in the opening 30 minutes of play.

Transy had 39 ground balls to 14 for Wilmington and the Pioneers caused six turnover.

"I am so proud of our team," said Marvine. "We worked so hard last fall and in preseason and it's always good to see when that hard work pays off.  Aubrey was just unbelieveable today, but we had a number of players step up and contribute. They did everything we asked of them and it was a great day for our program."

Transy will make its home field debut on Wednesday, taking on Piedmont at 2 p.m. at Thomas Field. The Pioneers travel to Oglethorpe on Saturday.
