DANVILLE, Ky. - Transylvania scored three runs over the final three innings Wednesday to take a 3-2 decision over Centre in collegiate baseball action.
The Pioneers improved to 13-11 on the season while the Colonels are 10-18.
Centre scored a run in the third and another in the fourth to take a 2-0 lead. Transy cam back with a run in the seventh and tied it in the eight before pushing the winning run across in the top of the ninth frame.
Hunter Voshell reached on an error and scored on an error on a ball put in play in the ninth for Transy to get the winning run home. Elliott Desilets pitched a perfect ninth to get the save for the Pioneers.
Nick Edwards pitched the eighth and got the win.
Ryan James started and went four innings, allowing two runs.
Shelby Dixon and
Graham Winchester combined for three shutout innings of relief.
Transy had nine hits, including two by
Kameron Mason, who had a double and a single.
Pete Travisano had two hits and a run batted in.
Transy pitchers combined for seven strikeouts and gave up just three hits.
The Pioneers are back in action on Saturday when they begin a three-game Heartland Conference series at Rose-Hulman.
