HANOVER, Ind. - Transylvania capped its first men's lacrosse season Wednesday with a 14-8 win over Hanover.
The Pioneers complete their first season with a 9-5 record under head coach
Terry Justice while the Panthers drop to 3-8. Transy won five of its last six games of the season.
Transy led 3-1 after the first quarter and 7-3 at halftime. The Pioneers had a 7-5 edge over the final 30 minutes.
Ben Erwin had five goals to pace the Pioneers while
Evan Wright added three and
Sam Ives had two.
Dylan Pahle also had two goals while
Skyler Moran found the net once as did
Clay Douthat.
Ben Erwin also had thee assists for the Pioneers.
Joshua Slone had 15 saves in goal for Transy.
Hanover had a 49-47 edge in shots and a 47-37 advantage in ground balls.
Erwin had 43 goals and 24 assists to lead Transy in offense during its first year and Douthat added 41 goals and 11 assists. Wright had 19 goals and Ives notched 13.
Slone had 137 saves in goal. Transy outscored its opponents 139-136 in its first year.
