LEXINGTON, Ky.-
Aubrey Bausum scored twice in overtime to give Transylvania a 15-14 win over Concordia on Saturday in women's lacrosse action at Thomas Field.
The win moves the Pioneers to 4-5 while the loss sets Concordia back to 4-5.
Transy was led by the high-scoring efforts of Bausum who tallied nine total goals in the contest.
Sky Spraker contributed four scores, while
Lucy Meredith and
Rachel Harrison each netted a goal apiece. Bausum came into the game ranked third nationally in goals per game.
The contest would prove to be a close one, as back and forth scoring ensued throughout the duration of the game. Transy took a 9-6 lead into the halftime, but Concordia outscored the Pioneers 7-4 in the second half. Emily Heckendorf got the tying goal with five seconds left in the game to send the contest into overtime.
Bausum came out with a vengeance and scored two goals within 30 seconds in overtime to give the Pioneers the victory.
Concordia outshot the Pioneers by a margin of 31-24, but Transy picked up more ground balls by a count of 23-14. Transy maximized their free-position shot opportunities going 5-9, while Concordia connected on just one of five attempts.

Lydia Shaughnessy was credited for 14 saves while Concordia's Rebecca David had six.
Transy travels to Sewanee for a match on April 21 and will return to Thomas Field on April 23 for their final game of the season as they take on Franklin College at 5 p.m.
