SEWANEE, Tenn. - Transylvania's
Aubrey Bausum tallied for goals Sunday, but it wasn't enough to prevent Sewanee from taking a 19-9 women's lacrosse win over the Pioneers.
Sky Spraker and
Rachel Harrison each scored twice in the game for the Pioneers, who are 4-6 in their inaugural season. Sewanee improves to 11-6 on the year. Bausum now has 61 goals on the year, which ranks here among the nation's leaders. Spraker has 25 goals and Harrison is third on the team with 17.
The Tigers built a 10-3 lead after the first half of play. The second 30 minutes were tighter with the home team outscoring Transy, 9-6.
Caroline Mrowiec had a goal and an assist for the Pioneers.
Lydia Shaughnessy had nine saves in goal for the Pioneers.
Transy was outshot, 32-19, and had 11 ground balls to 25 for Sewanee. Transy had 23 turnovers to 17 for the Tigers.
Transy completes its regular season on Tuesday when it hosts Franklin at Thomas Field at 5 p.m.
