MEMPHIS, Tenn. -The Pioneers' offense combined for nine hits in two games on Sunday, falling to Rhodes College, 5-0 and 8-0.
Sunday's wins completed a four-game series sweep against the Pioneers over the weekend. Sophomore
Jamie Lutes led the Pioneers with three doubles and a single, going 4-for-6 on the day.
The Pioneers were limited to only four hits in Sunday's second game. Junior
Elizabeth Young drove a double in the second inning to give Transylvania its first hit of the day, but the Pioneers were not able to score.
Lutes doubled in the fourth for the only hit of the inning for the Pioneers. Lutes doubled again in the sixth, as freshman Maddy Rodabaugh singled. However, the Pioneers could not capitalize.
Rhodes held a 3-0 lead before adding four runs in the fourth, giving the Lynx a 7-0 lead going into the fifth. Another Rhodes' run in the sixth was all it needed, picking up an 8-0 win in Sunday's first game.Sophomore
Katie Hulsman struck out two batters in 5 2/3 innings in the loss.
The Pioneers scattered five hits in the first game. Lutes' single in the fifth was the first hit of the ball game for Transylvania.

Cassie Hamilton but the Pioneers could not plate any runs, falling 5-0.
Lutes went the distance on the mound for the Pioneers in the second game, allowing five runs and striking out two in the loss. The Pioneers play their first home game of the season on Saturday, as they host Marietta College and Wittenberg University in a double-header.
