Women's lacrosse drops matchup with Ramapo

SEWANEE, Tenn.—Transylvania University's women's lacrosse team dropped its second game of the weekend, falling 16-9 to Ramapo College.

The Pioneers fell behind 2-0 in the first two minutes but junior midfielder Rachel Harrison scored two unanswered goals to knot the score up at two. Ramapo answered with two goals of their own before Transylvania responded with another goal from Harrison at the 14:00 minute mark to bring the deficit to 4-3. Ramapo extended their lead to 6-3 before Harrison added her fourth goal of the half with 4:29 left in the opening period. The Pioneers would enter the locker room trailing 7-5.

In the second half, Ramapo opened on a 6-0 run in the first five minutes of play to take a 13-5 lead. Transylvania was unable to overcome the run, only scoring four total goals in the final 30 minutes.

Harrison was the leading scorer for the Pioneers, recording five goals. Senior attacker Iyabo Erinkitola added one, junior midfielder Jessica Bier tallied two goals on three shots and freshman attacker Julia Ward added one to round of the scoring for Transy.

The Pioneers open their conference season on Tuesday in a road matchup against Hanover at 4:00 p.m. It will be Transylvania's inaugural game in the Ohio River Lacrosse Conference.
