Nicholasville, Ky. – The Transylvania men's tennis team will begin the 2021 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Tournament on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in a first-round match against the Manchester University Spartans at Top Seed Tennis Club.

The Pioneers are the No. 3 seed in the upcoming six-team conference tournament as they face off against No. 6 seed Manchester.

Tuesday's first-round winner will advance to the weekend portion of the semifinal and championship bracket and take on No. 2 Rose-Hulman on Saturday, May 8 at 2:30 p.m. at Top Seed Tennis Club, the site of the tournament semifinal and championship matches this weekend. Saturday's semifinal winner advances to Sunday's 12:30 p.m. championship match at Top Seed.

Transylvania is 4-5 overall this season and went 3-2 in conference play this spring against its HCAC counterparts.

The Pioneers are led by sophomore Arjun Gupta, who went 5-0 in singles play this season, and the junior twin tandem of Nick McNamee (4-1 in HCAC singles play) and Noah McNamee (4-1 in HCAC singles play).

Transylvania is led by fifth-year head coach Kevin Calhoun, who guided the Pioneers to their second consecutive winning season in conference play.  

The winner of the HCAC Tournament will clinch the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament, which begins May 14.
