LEXINGTON, KY - Transylvania fell short in a match up with Washington and Jefferson Saturday at Pat Deacon Stadium, with the Pioneers falling 2-0.Â
Kailey McClure took the first shot for the Pioneers late in the first quarter, but Washington and Jefferson's Grace Erhard would deflect them in the goal.
Lucy Cohen would find two shot opportunities in the second quarter, but ultimately both teams would carry a 0-0 tie into the halftime break. Lily Giering would score the first goal of the afternoon late in the third quarter to give Washington and Jefferson a 1-0 lead. Just over a minute later, Capriana Romano would score to increase the Washington and Jefferson advantage to 2-0. The Pioneers would find several shot opportunities in the fourth quarter, but ultimately would run out of time, with the Pioneers falling 2-0.Â
Transylvania returns to Pat Deacon Stadium on Sunday, hosting Allegheny at noon.Â
