RICHMOND, IN - Transylvania defeated Mount St. Joseph 3-0 on Saturday, advancing to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament Final on Sunday. They will take on Hanover at 1:00 p.m.
After a competitive first set that saw both teams battle to take the advantage, the Pioneers took an 18-16 lead after a four point run. Later in the set, Transylvania scored on consecutive kills from
Lilly Kaiser and
Addie Atcher to put the Pioneers up 23-18, but MSJ would rally back with five straight points to tie the Pioneers at 24-24. After exchanging points, the Pioneers scored two consecutive kills from
Isabella Myers to win set one 28-26.Â
Transylvania went on an impressive 9-0 run in set two to take a 21-7 advantage. They would win set two 25-10. In the final set, the Pioneers continued their offense, utilizing a five point run to take an 18-10 lead. Consecutive kills from
Peyton Mast and
Isabella Myers gave the Pioneers the set at 25-17, and the HCAC Semifinal victory 3-0.Â
Transylvania was led by 13 kills from
Isabella Myers, 35 assists from
Macy Lentz and 14 digs from
Julia Brown.Â
The Pioneers advance to the HCAC Tournament Final, they take on Hanover Sunday at 1:00 in Richmond, Indiana.Â
