LEXINGTON, KY - Transylvania launched a strong start to their spring Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) schedule on Saturday and Sunday. The Pioneers defeated Hanover 7-0 on Saturday and defeated Berea 7-0 Sunday.Â
Against Hanover the Pioneers picked up twp doubles victories, as
Jackson Fischer and
Jacob Jiranek earned a win over Jaya Siva and Mario Bravo.
Luke Earlywine and
Tobias Mandeville earned a win over Chase Richardson and Sebastian Vogel.Â
In singles competition Transylvania was dominant, as
Jackson Fischer,
Ravi Tedeschi,
Jacob Jiranek, Alejandro Perez,
Chase Moreman and
Tobias Mandeville all earned singles victories with the Pioneers going 6-0 in their singles match ups.Â
"This match was a win for the entire team, we were resilient and tough when things didn't go our way," said Head Coach
Kevin Calhoun. "It's a great start to our spring HCAC matches."
Against Berea on Sunday, the Pioneers earned another 7-0 victory.Â
In doubles competition, Fischer and Jiranek, Cooper and Moreman and Earlywine and Mandeville all earned doubles victories. In singles match ups, Fischer, Tedeschi, Jiranek, Perez, Moreman and Mandeville all earned victories for another 6-0 singles performance for the Pioneers.Â
"This was a great HCAC win," said Calhoun after the match. "We were professional and dealt with some format changes without being thrown off. Every conference win is big and we are excited about what is to come."
Transylvania returns to action on Saturday, March 29th, traveling to take on another HCAC opponent, Earlham.Â
