LEXINGTON, KY - Transylvania opened their 2025 campaign at John and Donna Hill Field on Sunday, hosting The College of Wooster for a double header.Â
Game 1: Transylvania 12, Wooster 4
Katie Mewes stole home to earn the first Pioneer run of the season in the first inning, but Transylvania would erupt for four runs in the second inning, following four runs from Wooster at the top of the second.
Maddie Goddard would score after
Reagan Rouleau doubled to left field,
Taylor Ingram would score after
Ella Steczynski flew out to center field. Mewes would then triple to left field, allowing Rouleau to score.
Dakota Burke would then double to left field, allowing Mewes to score to close the second inning.Â
The Pioneer offense would continue their hot start, scoring six runs in the fourth inning. Rouleau scored after Steczynski doubled to left field, Mewes and Steczynski would score from a single to left field from Burke, Burke would score after
Ry'Ann Tharp singled to right field,
Avery Parsons scored on a wild pitch. Tharp scored after Goddard singled to right field, while Francis singled to left field allowing
Jordan Fico to score.Â
Reagan Gibson pitched all five innings for the Pioneers, giving up five hits and four runs, striking out five batters.Â
Game 2: Transylvania 4, Wooster 2
Steczynski scored in the first inning after Burke grounded out as the Pioneers were the first on the scoreboard in the second game.
Emilie Young scored in the third after Burke grounded out. Rouleau would score in the fourth after Tharp singled a ground ball to the pitcher,
Emily Shearer would score in the fourth after Young grounded out as Transylvania took a 4-1 lead. Wooster would score a final run in the top of the fifth, but would be unable to take the lead, giving the Pioneers a 4-2 victory.Â
Trinity Bridges pitched three innings for the Pioneers, giving up three hits and one run and striking out one batter.
Natalie Contreras would record three strike outs, giving up five hits and one run in two and one quarter innings of action.Â
