Transylvania Clinches HCLC Championship, Advances to NCAA Tournament

LEXINGTON, KY - The Transylvania men's lacrosse team secured the 2025 Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference (HCLC) Championship on Saturday with a  26-5 victory over Hanover at Pat Deacon Stadium. With the win, the Pioneers advance to the NCAA Tournament.

Transylvania showcased a balanced and explosive offensive effort, led by four-goal performances from Huck Campbell, Alex Madson, and Jack Miller. Josh Harney added a hat trick, while Luke Stetter and Luke Larish each scored twice. Ryan Geisler also chipped in two goals, while Andrew Welch, Ben Gaccino, Tai Stormont, Dom Tsourkas, and Jaxon Eldridge each tallied one goal each.

Welch fueled the offense with a team-high three assists, with Stetter adding two. Campbell, Charlie Horner, and Gaccino each recorded one assist.

Defensively, Transylvania collected 38 ground balls, compared to 18 for Hanover, and forced 25 Hanover turnovers. Briggs Beck dominated the faceoff X, winning 18 of 24 draws to help the Pioneers control possession throughout the afternoon.

Transylvania outshot Hanover 73-18 overall and 45-11 in shots on goal. Goalkeeper Nick DeGrandi earned the win with five saves over 45 minutes of action, while Brandon Worzel added a save in relief.

The Pioneers were a perfect 27-for-27 on clear attempts and finished 1-for-6 on extra-man opportunities.

With the victory, Transylvania improved to 11-5 overall and captured the HCLC Tournament title, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Stay tuned to TransySports.com for updates about the NCAA Tournament.
