LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, GA - Transylvania defeated Sewanee in their first match up of the day at the Coca-Cola Classic, 3-0, for their fourth consecutive win.Â
Isabella Myers scored the first four points for the Pioneers, with four of her 19 kills of the match up. The Pioneers utilized a 7-0 run to take a 13-4 advantage, but Sewanee would respond with their own 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 13-12. Leading 20-19, Transylvania would score four consecutive points, along with a final kill from
Macy Lentz, to win set one. In set two Transylvania found themselves in a competitive exchange with Sewanee before consecutive kills from
Addie Atcher and
Peyton Mast gave the Pioneers a 17-13 lead. Transylvania would close the second set with another kill from Myers and a 25-18 victory. Trailing early in set three, a kill from Atcher and an ace from
Cecelia Roberts tied the score at 10-10. After a response from Sewanee, the Pioneers would rally with an 8-0 run to take a 21-14 advantage.
Clara Rogers would score the final kill for the 25-16 set victory, and a 3-0 win for Transylvania.Â
Myers led the Pioneers with 19 kills, Atcher followed with seven and Roberts recorded five.
Macy Lentz added 37 assists to lead Transylvania, while
Julia Brown recorded 23 digs.Â
Transylvania returns to action this afternoon at the Coca-Cola Classic at 4:30 for a match up with LeTourneau.Â
