CONYERS, Ga. — Transylvania men's golf wrapped up its regular season at the DeKalb Invitational, hosted by Emory University, with senior William Carr (Danville, Ky.) delivering a standout performance against elite national competition.

Carr saved his best for last, earning All-Tournament honors while competing in a field that featured multiple All-Americans. He finished tied for fourth overall at +1, putting together rounds of 71 (-1) and 70 (-2) before closing with a final-round 76. Carr was especially sharp over the first two rounds, playing a combined 3-under par to position himself among the tournament leaders.

As a team, Transylvania placed fifth in a stacked field of nationally ranked programs. Emory (No. 7) captured the title at +9, followed by Sewanee (No. 6) at +10 and top-ranked Huntingdon at +17. Mary Hardin-Baylor (No. 8) finished fourth at +28, while the No. 22-ranked Pioneers posted a three-round total of +40 (7-over, 12-over, 21-over).

Behind Carr, the Pioneers showed consistency across the lineup:

Andy Steed finished tied for 14th at +8, opening with a 71 (-1) before carding a 76 (+4) and a final-round 77.
Tom Buchert placed 17th at +12, shooting 73 (+1) in round one, followed by rounds of 77 and 78.
Ty Ruttinger recorded rounds of 80 (+8), 77 (+5), and 81 to finish at +22.
Connor Calhoun posted rounds of 85 (+13), 79 (+7), and 78 to finish at +26.
Competing as an individual, Hank Shick turned in a strong bounce-back performance after an opening round of 87 (+15), improving to rounds of 74 (+2) and 75 to finish at +20 for the tournament.

The Pioneers will look to carry that form into next weekend's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Men's Golf Championship.
