Transylvania University

Algie Reece was a vital part of Transy athletics, first asa student and later as a coach. He played football and basketball,and his skills at quarterback and halfback put him on the All-Stateteam in 1932. He stayed at Transylvania after graduation and servedas coach from 1934-35, 1937-42, and 1944-51. After leaving Transy,Reece became swim coach and an assistant professor of physicaleducation at the University of Kentucky. He also was active in thecommunity, serving as chairman of the Lexington chapter of the RedCross and as president of the Kentucky AudubonSociety.
