Lee Rose, a star in Pioneer basketball and baseball,returned to his alma mater as assistant coach and became head coachfor both sports as well as athletics director.

Rose, who scored 1,059 points as a player, posted a sterling160-57 record in eight seasons as Transy's head coach. Thatperformance soon led to other head coaching jobs. He took theUniversity of North Carolina-Charlotte and Purdue University to theNCAA Final Four and received Coach of the Year honors in eachcollege conference in which he coached.

Rose then moved into professional basketball. He was a coachfor the San Antonio Spurs and the New Jersey Nets and also coachedthree U.S. Olympic basketball teams.
