Transylvania University

Harry Stephenson has been a basketball player, teacher,basketball coach, baseball coach, director of athletics, golfcoach, baseball umpire, and basketball and baseball official duringhis more than 60-year association with Transylvania. Stephensoncame to Transy in 1936, but World War II and two years ofprofessional baseball interrupted his college career. He returnedto Transy and completed his A.B. degree in 1945, then earned amaster's degree in education at the University of Kentucky. Afterone year as a high school teacher and coach, Stephenson returned toTransylvania in 1948 as a physical education professor andbasketball and baseball coach. He retired in 1983, yet he nevergave up his active role and keen interest in Transyathletics.
