A student of physical education and economics, GeorgeStopp played basketball for the revered Alfred "Algie" Reece Jr.'33. Stopp was All-KIAC his sophomore year and was a leader oncampus as well as on the basketball court. After earning hismaster's and doctorate degrees, Stopp became an educator and was aprofessor emeritus at the University of Alabama.
