Transylvania University

Billy Wise began a long career in athletics aftergraduating from Transy. He became director of athletics for thecity of Lexington and served as an official for high school andcollege football and basketball. He also officiated professionalfootball in the Continental League.

Wise was commissioner of the Kentucky High School AthleticAssociation, which he joined as an assistant commissioner in 1969.In 1979 he became executive assistant commissioner, and in 1991 hewas promoted to commissioner. Under his leasdership, theassociation achieved financial stability.
